The Whittier Conservancy
Accomplishments
The members of the Whittier Conservancy can take pride in having played a major role in:

• Raising community awareness of the importance of historic and environmental preservation;

• Promoting actions to enhance neighborhood stability;

• The rezoning of the "north of Hadley" area after the 1987 earthquake;

• The designation of Whittier's first historic district;

• The reconstruction of the Lindley Building;

• The control of apartment construction in single-family neighborhoods;

• The development of new and improved development standards;

• The passage of Los Angeles County Proposition A for hillside land preservation.
